I am fortunate to spend summer months on Monhegan Island, a place of rugged beauty nine miles off the coast of Maine. On the island, I am inspired by being in the midst of vast stretches of sky and sea; the absence of cars means that I walk everywhere, and am thus surrounded by woods, meadows, shoreline and cliffs.
In addition to my summers on Monhegean, the 15+ years of involvement as a facilitator for the Center for Grieving Children, in Portland, Maine has been an invaluable source for deepening the purpose of using my love of art and children to help families grieve loss and death. I am awed by the tremendous strengths and confidence families gain when given a chance to express themselves, working with their hands and hearts, to help each other through dark times.
